Town Crest Refresh
The HTFC crest is in a drastic need of a revamp, not so much from a design perspective but more it's execution.
No, I'm not suggesting a Barry Rubery style overhaul and to completely strip us of our traditional identity, far from it. Instead I'd just like it to look more professional, something the current version certainly fails to uphold. Looking at how it is now the use of gradients immediately gives off a dated image, a long way off todays standards of clean and simple design. The illustration style is very clunky and it is littered with poor misinterpretation. For example, look at Castle Hill. Why has it got one wall angled very differently to it's opposite? Almost as if it is caved in on one side. The Terrier is also a bit out-dated and sometimes can look more like a poor interpretation of Chewbacca than the small dog it is supposed to represent. Safe to say I'm not a fan. I also feel the need to point out that this is NOT the original version of the Town crest. It seems to have been introduced in the early 2000's so what I am suggesting is not going rip apart the history of the clubs badge.
So, I had a go at creating a version myself and although I'm heavily biased, I do believe my interpretation to be a lot cleaner and more true as to what it is trying to represent. I'm sure with a bit of careful consideration and a better execution we could have a crest that can proudly epitomise our club and its history, one that can look a little more up to date and doesn't look like it's been produced in Microsoft paint back in the 1990's. Come on Town, let's sort it out, it just needs a bit of TLC.
